Opening Day is almost upon us. Burg is planning to celebrate its 10th Anniversary in style.
We will have the annual Parade of Teams, group and individual picture sessions, a live DJ and food. There will be scrimmages between squads and special parent kickball and softball games.
Come check out pictures of the league over the years. All former players and coaches and their families are welcome. Please come down to the Lake Vista complex and help us celebrate!
Burg Baseball was one of two local leagues to win big every time Tampa Bay Rays ace Chris Archer struck out an opponent in 2015. Archer, along with the Rays organization and WTSP 10 News, donated money for every K to Burg and RBI Baseball’s Tampa chapter.
Some Burg players and coaches visited Tropicana Field to meet with Archer and receive their check before a game against the Blue Jays. The total sum? $9,500. We are so grateful to Chris for his generosity and amazing performance.
Coach Cliff Williams, who led the minor-division Marlins to back-to-back successful seasons, is Burg’s new vice president.
Coach Cliff is a devoted Burg volunteer who brings fresh ideas that will help the league grow. He has already developed a new evaluation form that coaches used to help run tryouts in January.
Coach Cliff will also helm one of our two Freshman division teams in 2016. And no one has been better over the years at recruiting new players to Burg.
Say hello and congratulations to Coach Cliff next time you see him at the fields!
Burg Baseball teams excelled in the local city tournaments in 2015.
The Farm division Rays fought until the end to take a share of first place.
The Freshmen Pirates dropped their first contest to Wildwood before running the loser’s bracket to take second place.
The Sophomore Giants, which maintained a long undefeated run in the regular season, took second place in their tournament at Campbell Park.
